Increase Your Blog RSS Feed Subscribers by investing just 10 minutes
Before beginning, let me tell you that this post is not about the crap you have always heard as a way to increase your RSS subscribers. This post will not tell you to write better content or some popular news in order to get more subscribers. This post will tell you a simple, 10 minutes, step-by-step procedure of increasing your RSS subscribers overnight.
Increase Your Blog RSS Feed Subscribers:
Have you got a blog ready with RSS subscription facility? Is your RSS manager feedburner? If these two questions were answered yes by you, then I have a cool way to increase your subscribers by at least 10% overnight.
If you login to FeedBurner account, you will see the number of your subscribers who have subscribed you via e-mail. By clicking on “See more about your subscribers” link, you will be shown your subscribers’ e-mail addresses and their status. Status can either be ‘verified’ or ‘unverified’. See the image below for details:
Now, you can export the complete list of subscribed e-mails and download it in CSV format. A link for this purpose can be found the same place. After downloading these e-mails on your computer, sort the e-mail list in two categories – ‘verified’ and ‘unverified’ using MS-Excel or whatever. If you have few e-mail subscribers, you can even do this manually.
Now take all the unverified e-mails. These are the people who have subscribed to your feed, but unfortunately missed the verification part and so are not receiving your blog updates and are not being counted as your subscribers. Now using your favorite e-mail sender client (Gmail, yahoo, etc.) prepare a draft to be sent to these unverified subscribers. The ‘subject’ of the e-mail should be written carefully to be not considered as spam.
The e-mail should notify them that they had wished to subscribe your blog but unfortunately they missed out. You should also mention that the subscription e-mail could be checked by searching for your e-mail id in their inbox. (FeedBurner sends e-mail using the e-mail id provided by you at the time of registration). You can also include, in the e-mail, your new blog developments and all.
Once you have prepared a draft e-mail, send it to your unverified subscribers and wait for their response. It often happens that your subscriber missed the verification part and he apologizes for it and confirms his subscription.
I have worked this trick and it has done miracles for me. I was able to increase my subscribers by 13% in just a day.
So, what’s now?

Sounds advice but I find that percentage of email subscribers can be very different depending on blog topic and readership.
I have techie blog and out of ~350 subscribers at moment only 3 (three) of them are via email.

Thanks for your comment Rast. Ya, I agree that there are different packs of subscribers depending on your blog’s content. At present, I am having over 40% of my subscribers via e-mail.
By the way, I am your blog’s fan and am one of your ‘feed subscribers’.

I am not a blog owner but I have subscribed to many blogs. I prefer mostly rss feed because email subscription fills my e-mail worthlessly. This is the case with much of we readers.

Very good advice. I think that having feeds through email can help subscribers a lot. I know I prefer to do it through email.
