Link Building Tips For Bloggers

by Aditya on December 17, 2008

You are aware that this blog is started yesterday and while I was planning to build links for it, I decided to throw a nice link building strategy (or you may say tips) to my readers. This is not my first blog. I have created many niche blogs and a personal journal before. I know some of the most coool and competent link-building methods. And I will discuss the same here.

Link building gives your site search engine presence and build you blog specific for some keywords. When a person searches web using those specified keywords, you get a small piece or lion’s share of that search engine traffic for your blog which you can leverage for making money from your affiliate products or advertisement programs.

Link Building Tips For Bloggers -

The link building strategy given below if focused on getting yourself targeted placements in search engine for your keywords. Some of the link-building tips below will require your agreement with them, while others will require just one-way action on your behalf.

  • Submit your site to directories – This is the first and the foremost step that you should do, when setting up a new website. To help you find the directories, I have got the links for you. Here’s a list of web directories you can use and you can find some blog directories here.
  • Submit press release- A formal press release talking about your new weblog or website release should be submitted to Press Release sites. These press release website will distribute your release to other PR websites and will thus get you links. Two of my most favorite Press Release websites are – PRWeb and PRLeap.
  • Link Exchange- Exchanging links with similar blogs is a way to expose your self to a readers that are already interested in contents of your type. You can join some the link exchange directories for finding webmasters that can help you give reciprocal links. I recommend using LinkMarket for link exchanges. I have used their service and it worked great for me.
  • Commenting on similar blogs- Commenting on other websites is a way to build link as well as get some quick traffics. But, you can use it on for your benefits on a long term also. I have written about leveraging comments for a long-term benefits on my journal. You can read it here
  • Social Bookmarking- Social bookmarks like digg.com, reddit.com,stumbleupon.com,etc. can be used to popularize your website or weblog. It helps you gain some exposure in the initial stages and if your content is worth it, it can make it to their homepages and you can be flooded with loads of traffic. You can find a list of social bookmarking sites here
  • Social Media- Friends of your social media like twitter.com or facebook.com can make your blog rock this time. You can propogate your links on twitter profile or your other social medias and get some pretty handsome backlinks. You can also ask some of your friends to review your new blog on theirs or give you a backlink.
  • Foruming- Make your signature your blog. After every post you make, you will have your signature. Thus by foruming around or (you may say) just by hanging out on forums, can make you handsome numbers of backlinks.
  • Article Submission- Submitting your good articles on some high pageranks, will help you build links. Just make sure that you write something relevant to your blog content. To make your work easy, here is a list of article directories sorted by Alexa Rank and Google Pagerank.
  • Guest Posting on other Blogs- You can offer guest posting to some of well ranked blogs and give your weblog a backlink. This works great. A carefully selected weblog for guest posting, can increase your link popularity as well as your readers.
  • Hold Contest- Holding an easy and ebjoyable contest can make your website popular in no time. Contest should be created keeping in mind your budget as well as your whishes to be fulfilled by the contest. Then you can submit your blog contest details to various directories. I reccomend BlogContestSite.com.Currently, I am a holding a contest for this blog. You can participate in it here.

These are just simple methods that can be used to increase your search engine presence and develop readership at the very same time. I have used them and hope that you will love them too.

So, what’s now?

Hi, i would like to ask you about link exchange service. I’m still newbie in this stuff. I heard join service like this can make your PR drop. is it true? and what service did you join on LM? and where did you put the page of LM.. thank you

Aditya January 19, 2009 at 6:12 am

No, link exchange do not bring you a PR drop. I have used link exchange systems for my other blog and they have done fairly well. However, you should not exchange links with “n/a” pagerank websites or website irrelevant to your niche.

I would suggest you to use LinkMarket.com for link-exchanging purpose. I have used them and I feel that it was good.

You can see one of my link exchange pages at http://anddjournal.blog.co.in/resources/

Your post is good. I further want to know what is the shortest time in which we can build links? According to my information writing article with links is the best way, is it true?

Aditya June 29, 2009 at 12:58 pm

Ya, I too think that writing articles with proper backlinks (taking into consideration the keyword factors) is great way to build links. However, commenting on other blogs in proper format (http://techravings.info/2009/01/how-to-get-links-from-do-follow-blogs.html) could be an easier way. It saves time and is quite quick and beneficial when experimenting with pages of various pageranks.
