Don’t get amazed if some friend of yours tell you that he has something@googlemail.com e-mail address. Well, even I have too. And if you have a Gmail e-mail account, you have too.
Actually, when you create an e-mail account at Google, you get two e-mail addresses – one that is something like @gmail.com and the other is @googlemail.com and the two e-mail addresses are in the same domain.
It implies that if someone has bill@gmail.com as e-mail address, then all the messages sent to bill@googlemail.com will also be delivered to bill@gmail.com.
Now, you can exploit this to your advantage. You can give @googlemail.com to your close contacts and @gmail.com for public viewing. Then you can set a filter for @googlemail.com header messages to be dropped in a particular folder so that you will never miss an e-mail from your close contacts.

I’ve enjoyed reading your blog. Most are full of garbage, but this is really interesting – and useful too! I particulary enjoyed the Get a Googlemail e-mail address (Not @gmail.com) post. I’ll be back often, starting next Friday. Kind regards, Lily.
