Changing Owner and Organization name in Windows XP
If you got your Windows installed from a service center, in most cases it will be the service center’s name or the person’s name who installed windows on your computer as owner’s name.
Now you do not need to give your computer’s ownership credit to some one else anymore. You can change owner’s name by using registry editor. Here is a tutorial to help you with the work -
1. Go to Start, then Run… and then in the dialog box that pops-up, enter regedit and press enter.
2. Locate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version.
3. On the right pannel, double click on RegisteredOwner and change the data value to your name or any name of your choice. Now double click on RegisteredOrganization and change the data value to your organization name.
4. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
You can check for the new owner and organization name after restarting the computer by going to selecting “Properties” from ‘My Computer’ right frop down menu under ‘General’ tab.
