Search Audio Files by Voice using Recite
A new application program for Windows Mobile Devices, known as Microsoft Recite, has been made available by Microsoft. With Microsoft Recite, a user can record and store a sound clip. He can then use the recorded sound clips to search for sound clips containing the recorded or said words whenever he wants.
There are many voice recording applications available, but Microsoft Recite has changed the whole scene by adding audio search option to search from saved sound clips by using audio input. There has not been so far such an application that allows to search through audio clips and notes by audio input.
In the official announcement, Microsoft mentioned that Recite Voice search will make it easy to retrieve saved audio files by using voice pattern matching which will analyze the patterns in your speech and finds matches between the two recordings – the notes you stored on your phone, and the search you do using your voice. With Microsoft Recite, you can store thousands of spoken notes, and then later retrieve the notes you want based on a match with your search term or phrases. This is different from speech recognition, which has to accurately convert spoken words to application-readable input.
Microsoft is free for download to the general public as Technology Preview. All windows mobile devices using Windows Mobile OS version 6.0 or higher can use Recite after downloading and installing. For those who are using earlier versions, can also download and install Recite after downloading and installing Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 2.0 or higher. For using recite in Technology Preview phase, you need your phone to have a directional pad (D-pad) as Bluetooth earpiece is not supported. Microsoft Recite Technology preview phase’s officially supported devices are AT&T Blackjack II, AT&T Pantech Duo, HTC Diamond, Motorola Q9C, Moto Q9m, SMT 5800, T-Mobile Dash, T-Mobile Shadow, and T-Mobile Wing.
You can download Recite from http://recite.microsoft.com/ via mobile browser, via SMS or via ActiveSync Installer. The application is free, however, you need to pay for the data transfer session and download time when downloading Recite to your mobile device while a Mobile Network.
