You can connect most of the newer digital cameras to your PC through FireWire or USB cable. But for the most of the old analog ones, you need some extra effort. This will be there if your video camera does not have PC compatible ports. However, here are the simple and easy to follow steps that can be used to connect your Analog camera to your PC using a device that can convert analog signals of your analog camera to digital signals.
This is a bit too tiring and you need to leave the comforts of your seat to move out of your house and get everything settled.
1. Write down all your computer specifications on paper.
2. Go to a computer or electronic shop and check for graphics card or other devices that can change the analog signals of your camera to digital signals. Do check the device for RCA connectors, which are round and brightly colored. The device should have one. Also, check the system requirements and compare them against the specifications of your PC you wrote in step 1.
3. Install the device on your PC following the instructions given instruction booklet or whatever and make sure to install any software that you got with the device.
4. Now the second last and final step before you can start capturing. Connect the audio and video RCA cables to the colored jacks on your video camera and connect the other end of the RCA cables to the video-capture device.
5. Start the software you will be using to capture your video. Start the tape just ahead of where you want to begin digitizing, then start the software’s video-capture function and start recording.
That’s done
