Use JOCR to Copy Text from Images

By Aditya On March 26, 2009 Under Tech Tips

jocrI have never ever encountered a situation where I needed a tech tool that could copy text from an image file, but if you have encountered such situation, here is a valuable tool. Now instead of writing text from images by referring image every now and then, you can use JOCR to copy text from an image file as easy as pulling out radish from a wet ground.

This tool can also be used if you would like to copy text from protected websites since it uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology for understanding text by using image structuring.

To use JOCR is very easy. All you need to do is download the file and install it. Then just capture the screen which you would like to copy text from, by using JOCR. As soon as you capture a screen, the captured image will be displayed on the utility window and then you can click on “Recognizer” button to copy text from the image you took. JOCR supports following languages – Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish and Portuguese.

The utility needs a minimum of Microsoft Office 2003 (or higher) and you must have Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) installed on your PC for JOCR to work. If you find this tool to be useful to you in some way, do download it by clicking here.
