If you are a WordPress user, you might have encountered the IO Error when browsing local drive for uploading a picture. The error reads as: IO error. An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later. I was suffering with the same problem from past two days and I have finally figured out the workarounds and solutions to address this problem.
Alternative when encountered IO Error
1. Click on the ‘browser uploader‘ link instead.
2. Browse the file on your system and click upload.
Fixing IO Error when Uploading Images in WordPress
1. Go to your PC desktop
2. Click on Start -> Run and enter appwiz.cpl in the Run dialog box. You will be presented with ‘Add or Remove Programs’ window.
3. Remove Adobe Flash Player ActiveX by selecting Adobe Flash Player ActiveX and removing it.
4. Download and reinstall Adobe Flash Player ActiveX .

I guess this problem only occurs in I.E. and not in FF, Opera, Safari…
I use FireFox and I encountered this problem. Also, IO error is not dependent on web browser.

I had the same problem and I use FF. Then I tried to do it with IE and I noticed that it was working offline. I turned IE on and moved again to FF and it solve the problem!. Best.
some times when i upload pictures on wordpress, speed is very slowly, it’s still display uploading“`
Try using simple upload feature instead of the flash one. This might help =)
