A team of enthusiasts from RapidRepair initiated to dissect a brand new iPhone 3GS with the aim of finding the kind of processor that this stylish and powerful device uses. From the teardown analysis report, it has been disclosed that the processor chip from Samsung is capable of handling 720p HD decode/encode, although iPhone officially limits it to 640 X 480 screen resolutions.
The processor used in the new iPhone 3GS is SSPC100 which is capable of not only decoding 720p HD media contents but is also capable to encode or capture 720p technically. Besides, the processor can also process two-way video calls with a 256MB RAM on the board without taking much on the board design space.
The processor has been under-clocked at the current specification as it would have consumed much power then. However, it is still far more than sufficient for mobile computing without drawing excessive current and affecting battery life time unnecessarily.

According to me, Under-clocking is a SIN! When you can use the full power of any device then what is the use of using less that what is available? People often use overclocked device to get better performance, but this is the first case I heard about under-clocking!
