You may occasionally want to download a file or backup your drive at night so that your work could be done without anyone’s intervention. However, it is really hard to get up late night for just the sake of downloading a file or backing up your disk drive. However, here is a free app that can help you to a great extent. Named as WakeUpOnStandBy, it is a freeware that can be used to schedule programs to run automatically at predefined intervals.
Once you have downloaded the file, you just need to execute it. There is no installation required for the software to work. Once executed, a simple five steps is all that is required to set the app working perfectly for you. First, you need to specify the time when your computer should be awaken automatically. You can choose to turn on monitor, keep screen on afterwards and etc. You then need to browse the application, webpage, file which you would like to run. You can also specify what to do next – hibernate, standby or shutdown computer when the task is completed.
Another interesting feature of this app is ‘repeated mode‘ which can be used to repeat all the steps every day. This feature is especially useful if you would like to perform some activities (such as periodic file backup) automatically.
The application is compatible with Windows and interested users can get a free download of it by clicking here.
