If you are a WordPress blogger and you frequently upload images to your posts, then you must consider using the WordPress plugin SmushIt. This WordPress plugin reduces the webserver space that the uploaded images, take by compressing the images you upload. The SmushIt plugin also gives you option to optimize images right from your WordPress admin area.
Features of SmushIt WordPress plugin:
- stripping meta data from JPEGs
- optimizing JPEG compression
- converting certain GIFs to indexed PNGs
- stripping the un-used colours from indexed images
Once you have installed the SmushIt WordPress plugin, all the uploaded images will be automatically compressed using the Smush.it service. However, the images that were uploaded before installation of SmushIt WordPress plugin will have to be compressed by clicking the ‘Smush.it’ link manually. An option to bulk smush.it old image files would be very helpful in such a situation.
