It does provide you an option to postpone restart after 10 minutes to 4 hours, but in case you are away from your pc, it will force reboot and u may lose any unsaved applications.

To stop Windows from automatically rebooting after Windows Update, you can follow one of the two methods:

Using Command Prompt

  1. Hold Windows + R key and type in cmd in the Run dialog box to open command prompt.
  2. In the command prompt type the following (with quotes):

net stop “windows update”

Note: – You require admin privileges to perform this action and this will disable the automatic restart on a temporary basis.

Using ‘Leave Me Alone’

Use of simple utility named ‘Leave Me Alone’ allows you to disable automatic restarts after Windows Update. Following it is easy and it does just the required thing without changing any additional settings.
