How to use Google Public DNS Servers to increase browsing speed in Windows

Google released its Public DNS Server recently. The purpose of this release is to provide users with an enhanced browsing experience where browsing gets faster and becomes more protected. Once you start using Google Public Server DNS for your Windows, you will see a considerably faster web browsing.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names assigned to each of the participants.

Set Google Public DNS server in Windows:

For Windows XP:

Go to My Computer -> My network Places -> Network Connection

For Windows Vista:

Go to Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Network Connections

For Windows 7:

Go to Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections

Once you have followed the above step for your Windows version, proceed as follows:

1. Right click on network connection and select ‘Properties’.

2. Select IPv4 and click properties button.

4. Select ‘Use the following DNS server addresses:’ radio button and fill it with following values:

Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4

5. Click OK.

6. Enjoy a faster and protected browsing experience.
