Clear your Twitter home from all spammy and insistent tweets

by Aditya on January 13, 2010

If you are following more than hundred people on Twitter then you are aware of the fact that it is very easy to overhung yourself with loads and loads of updates in a matter of few minutes. This also fills your Twitter home with lots of spammy and repetitious tweets. Cadmus is a novel and neat utility which tries to filter out spammy and repetitious tweets make your Twitter home a bit cleaner.

Using Cadmus is very simple. All you need to do is go to the Cadmus homepage and login using your Twitter login credentials via Twitter OAuth. Once you have logged in, Cadmus will begin its work by filtering out the repetitious and spammy tweets. It took around five minutes for Cadmus to filter and display my Twitter home updates. The best part is that Cadmus filtered out around 24% of all my updates, thereby making my Twitter home a bit cleaner (by 24% to be precise).

As regarding the service, I cannot say anything with certainty. First of all, I do not know what according to Cadmus is called irrelevant. It is possible that Cadmus filters out all updates dealing with a cricket match (on pretext of being repetitious) which are important for me. I am not very sure of this utility (as of now). However, I do find that it is of great use when there is a breaking-news out there in web media.

Try Cadmus

Hmmm…. Cadmus seems to actually work most of the time.

Thanks for the review. I am Jay, one of the guys behind Cadmus.

Just to quickly clarify. When we “filter” out the 24% of your updates, we are grouping them together. So these posts are not taken out of your stream. The @replies in your stream are also grouped in as conversations. We then sort these posts by relevance. So every time you check in, we find out what you need to read to catch up on what your friends are talking about.

Using your example of the cricket match; if many of the people you follow are tweeting about the same thing those group of posts should show up at the top when you sign in.

You can find out more about how Cadmus works here – http://blog.anomalyinnovations.com/2009/12/cadmus-keeping-you-updated/.

it is better to do a list of people you want to look at their worthwhile twits . Open this list and you no longer bother of unwanted twits.

Aditya @ TechRavings August 24, 2010 at 11:38 am

Yes Twitter lists come pretty handy in such a case. I myself use the same. Thanks for dropping by and adding your valuable feedback.
