by Aditya on January 11, 2010

Imagine this. There is a whole lot of garbage in the form of different file types on one PC. There are hundreds of folders containing tens of different file types. On the other hand, there is a PC where the information files are stored in separate folders where each folder contains only one file type – like image folder contains only image files. What do you think is better way of organising files? Definitely the second one is better and geekier approach of organising files.

If you haven’t organised your files in this way and the number of files on your system has increased considerably, then sorting them manually and arranging them in folders on the basis of their file types, can be a harder nut to crack. Thankfully, there is a utility that can help us out in such a situation. Named as Digital Janitor, it is a utility that can reorganise all your files by their file types into separate folders.

Using this utility is very simple and pretty straightforward. Just fire up Digital Janitor and select the folder that contains a different type of files. Next, give in the file type and the destination folder under the two boxes available in the interface. Up to 7 file types can be reorganised in one go. Once you click on the ‘auto sort’ button, different files will be organised into different folders on the basis of the file types.

This utility is compatible with Windows operating system and requires.net framework for its working.
