How to find Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 Product Key

I recently discovered a nice utility that lets you retrieve your Windows product key. Named as Simple Keyfinder, it is a small yet powerful application that lets you recover your Windows product key in a text file and saves it to your hard disk. This file can then be transferred to your USB drive or external hard drive. This would ensure that you do not lose your expensive Windows product key in case of a system failure.

Here is how you can recover your Windows product key using Simple Keyfinder:

1. Go to WinKeyFinder.com

2. Download Simple Keyfinder. It is a zip file of around 38kB.

3. Extract this zip file.

4. Double-click “simple_keyfinder” application icon.

5. If you get a warning, overlook it and allow the application.

6. A window will open and will display your Windows product key.

7. There is no need to write down the product key from this window. You will find a file named “WinKeyFinder_found_Key” generated in the folder where the application resides. You can simply transfer this file to an external hard drive or USB drive to back up your Windows product key.

Simple Keyfinder is compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000,Windows 2003 and also with Windows 7.

I normally use Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder (www.magicaljellybean.com) which works very good for any version of windows plus gives you a list of keys for other apps found installed on the computer like Office, Adobe Photoshop, Nero, etc… very useful…
